Player ratings: How the Scots fared in historic victory over Wales

Stuart Hogg: Lasted only 13 minutes before suffering a head injury – but had a couple of good touches to help steady early nerves – 6

Kyle Steyn: It took two Welsh tacklers to barge him into touch as he dived for the line in the first half, but there was no stopping the winger when he scored twice after the break – 8

Huw Jones: Split Wales wide-open early in the match in a move which deserved a try, but the support runners failed to stay connected. A constant threat and solid in defence – 8

Sione Tuipulotu: Another accomplished all-round performance from the Australian-born midfielder who has made the No 12 his own – 7

Duhan van der Merwe: Caught out a few times during a tricky first half but came into the game after the break with a series trademark bursts with ball in hand– 7

Finn Russell: A master of his craft who shrugged off a few early errors to run Wales ragged during the second half and he had a direct hand in four of the team’s five tries – 9

Ben White: One or two loose passes but generally tidy performance, who poses a threat himself as well as providing slick service to Russell and the backline – 7

Pierre Schoeman: Another busy match with 10 carries and 13 tackles, before being replaced with 15 minutes to go– 8

George Turner: The abrasive hooker powered over for the game’s opening score but was yellow-carded for a high tackle on George North – 7

Zander Fagerson: Scrum was a bit of a struggle but his work-rate and aggression around the park was a big boost – 7

Richie Gray: A towering presence in the line-out battle and a huge contribution in the loose for the veteran who is now playing the best rugby of his career – 8

Grant Gilchrist:  Never stops battling for every inch and is an unsung hero of the pack – 8

Jamie Ritchie: Turnover five yards from his own line was a crucial momentum shift when it looked like Wales were beginning to get on top – 8

Luke Crosbie: A typically industrious 44 minutes from the Edinburgh breakaway, who made 11 tackles before injuring his shoulder – 7

Matt Fagerson: Topper off yet another all-action display with Scotland’s final try – 8

Substitutes:

Blair Kinghorn: An early replacement for the concussed Hogg who was a real threat attacking from deep and claimed a good try – 7

George Horne – Kept the tempo high after replacing White on the hour mark – 6
