Player ratings as Peter Harte shines for Tyrone in semi-final victory over Kerry

TYRONE

Niall Morgan 6

Kicked a couple of points from distance but lost control of kickout in third quarter.

Padraig Hampsey 7

Tough task on Sean O’Shea but helped limit the damage to manageable proportions.

Michael McKernan 7

Largely snuffed out Paul Geaney, a solid afternoon’s work for McKernan.

Ronan McNamee 6

A thankless task on the rampant David Clifford, but kicked a point and had one big turnover.

Frank Burns 7

Processed a lot of ball and was tidy in possession as he usually is.

Conor Meyler 7

Limited the influence of Paudie Clifford, cutting off an important supply line.

Peter Harte 8

A heroic block on Killian Spillane, got forward to good effect too.

Brian Kennedy 5

Kerry had the better of the midfield exchanges and Kennedy was largely ineffective.

Conn Kilpatrick 6

Lost his battle with David Moran and was called ashore coming down the stretch.

Kieran McGeary 7

Worked hard and won a few frees but was wasteful too.

Michael O’Neill 7

Applied enough pressure to prevent Sean O’Shea goal, big hit on O’Shea in second half.

Niall Sludden 6

Did well generally but black card could have been fatal for Tyrone.

Darren McCurry 6

Came alive briefly in second half, black card was mindless stuff from him.

Conor McKenna 6

Took his two goals well but not in the game otherwise.

Mattie Donnelly 6

Not one of this better days at Croke Park, didn’t make much of an imprint.

Subs: Cathal McShane 8, Tiarnan McCann 6, Darragh Canavan 7, Ben McDonnell 6, Liam Rafferty 6, Mark Bradley 6.

KERRY

Shane Ryan 8

Made a fine save from Darragh Canavan, kickouts couldn’t be faulted.

Brian O Beaglaoich 7

Picked up Mattie Donnelly, who had a very limited influence on proceedings.

Jason Foley 8

A fine performance, kept Conor McKenna quiet for the most part.

Tom O’Sullivan 7

Part of a solid Kerry full-back line, largely snuffed out Darren McCurry.

Mike Breen 6

Not particularly prominent and hooked after a poor turnover in second half.

Paul Murphy 8

Won plenty of ball, drove forward and ignited extra time comeback.

Gavin White 7

Committed more ten his share of fouls but effective going forward.

David Moran 7

Was comfortably the best midfielder on view before his hamstring failed him.

Jack Barry 5

Didn’t impose himself and at fault for the decisive goal.

Dara Moynihan 5

Back from injury and largely anonymous, withdrawn at half-time.

Paudie Clifford 6

Clipped a couple of points but didn’t have the same influence as in previous games.

Stephen O’Brien 7

Won three converted frees and provided an assist, mixed good with bad outside of that.

David Clifford 9

Another five-star display, a second half wide on his right foot the only quibble.

Paul Geaney 5

Did better when reintroduced but doesn’t seem the Geaney of old.

Sean O’Shea 7

Kicked his frees well but not as influential as might have been expected.

Subs: Killian Spillane 6, Gavin Crowley 6, Diarmuid O’Connor 7, Adrian Spillane 5, Tommy Walsh 6, Geaney for David Clifford (70), Tadhg Morley 6, Jack Sherwood 6, Graham O’Sullivan 6, Micheal Burns 6.
