Play it forward: The week ahead in college football

Sept. 28--Five things to watch this week in college football:

1: The last time we checked in on Indiana football it was losing the 1968 Rose Bowl, 14-3, to USC. This year's Hoosiers, though, are off to a 4-0 start with top-ranked Ohio State coming to Bloomington this week. Can Indiana knock some bloom out of Urban Meyer?

2: Alabama plays at Georgia this week in the first regular-season meeting of these programs since 2008. The Crimson Tide is looking to avoid its first 3-2 start since Nick Saban's first season in 2007.

3: West Virginia (3-0) quietly sneaked into the Associated Press media poll this week, at No. 23, with the chance to make more noise with a huge game at No. 15 Oklahoma. West Virginia's Big 12 country road doesn't get easier, with looming games at Texas Christian and Baylor.

4: Notre Dame football's quasi-relationship with the Atlantic Coast Conference continues this week when it plays at Clemson in a battle of top-15 schools. Notre Dame, remember, nearly upended undefeated Florida State last year in Tallahassee.

5: Don't look now, but California is 4-0 and No. 24 in the latest AP poll. The Golden Bears have a win at Texas, are 1-0 in Pac-12 play after Saturday's win at Washington and have a decent shot to be 5-0 with Washington State coming to Berkeley.
