Plaxico Burress can envision Eli Manning playing in Jacksonville

When New York Giant fans look back on Eli Manning’s career, it will most certainly be remembered most for the two championship runs where the two-time Super Bowl MVP lead Big Blue in near flawless postseason runs.

Since the decision was announced Tuesday that Manning would be benched in favor of rookie Daniel Jones, many of Manning’s former teammates have spoken out in the defense of No. 10.

We’ve seen Shaun O’Hara, David Diehl, Osi Umenyiora and many more speak out against the Giants’ decision. On Thursday, Plaxico Burress, who caught the game-winning touchdown pass from Eli Manning in Super Bowl XLII, shared his thoughts in an interview with TMZ.

“I don’t believe that No. 10 is done, I could see him down in Jacksonville reuniting with the great Tom Coughlin,” Burress said.

Burress went as far as to call the relationship between Manning and Coughlin ‘unbreakable.’ It is very unlikely that Manning would waive his no-trade clause to go and play for another team. In fact, reports were that as soon as Manning found out he had been benched, he went right back to the quarterback room to help Daniel Jones in his preparation for Sunday.

“I know that the fire still burns for him to go out and compete and to play this game,” Burress said. “I think that his time over in New York may be over, but as far as going somewhere else and playing football, I believe that he can still do that.”

Manning most certainly still has a passion for the game and he most definitely did not come back for his 16th season to only start two games. Regardless, Manning has handled the situation with absolute class. Seeing Manning in another uniform would certainly be a tough for Big Blue fans, but it might be even harder for the two-time Super Bowl MVP.
