Plaudits for Spear & Jackson and Philips

Our Spear & Jackson stainless steel spade broke after some years of use. On contacting the firm, and after sending a photograph, it was replaced with a brand new and improved version. No hassle, no problems. They are not the cheapest, but quality and service seems to be what you pay for.

We have a bought a fork from them as well. AA, Whitehaven

This is not the first letter we have had about this firm – so well done to Spear & Jackson.

Also this week, an expensive LED light bulb in the Consumer Champs’ kitchen went after a year or so. We didn’t have the receipt and couldn’t remember where we had bought it, so phoned the manufacturer, Philips. A nice woman in Holland took down our details and three days later a replacement arrived. Excellent service – and no, we didn’t tell her we worked for the Guardian.
