Plate Day men's fashion sees well dressed gents step out in style at Newcastle Racecourse

While it was, as you'd might expect, the ladies who made the most striking impact with their outfits, plenty of men certainly scrubbed up well as they flocked to Newcastle Racecourse on Saturday.

Geordie girls were glammed up to the hilt for the massive racing and social fixture, many suffering for fashion in high heels as huge hats as the Racecourse sweltered in temperatures reaching the mid-20s.

And many lads were left they'd left their suit jackets at home as conditions were extremely muggy for Plate Day.

Over the past few years, there have been just as eye catching ensembles from the lads as there have have been from the lasses, with Peaky Blinders being a big inspiration for a few years in a row.

And while there was a smattering of tweed and flat caps, there weren't nearly as many guys influenced by the hit TV drama this year.

Instead there were plenty of waistcoats, open shirts and light weight blazers amongst the many suits, some three piece, at the Racecourse for the occasion, as well as plenty of sunglasses!

There wasn't incentive for the men to go all out with their Plate Day attire as there was a prize for Best Dressed Male, which ended up not being won by a Geordie, but by a Scot, with David Carr taking the title for 2019.
