Plastic shopping bags filled with £100k in bundles of cash seized from van after motorway police chase

Bags filled with bundles of cash worth up to £100,000 have been seized from a car after a police chase on the motorway.

Motorway police spotted a silver van on the M61 motorway northbound which then 'took off' at junction 4, the Watergate Lane interchange in Bolton, on Tuesday.

Officers managed to stop the vehicle and brought it to the Toby Carvery pub car park.

The van was chased down near Logistics North (GMP)

Police searched the van, revealing plastic shopping bags filled with bundles of notes totalling around £100,000.

The cash has been seized and enquiries are ongoing.

Greater Manchester Traffic Police tweeted: "#XT11, #XT51, #ME11 & #ME51 sighted this vehicle on the M61 north and took off at Junct 4.

"Upon searching the vehicle a large amount of cash located £100,000. Cash seized further enquires ongoing."
