Plans unveiled for new west end cafe near Glasgow University

Plans have been unveiled for a new cafe to open in the west end of Glasgow.

A planning application has been submitted to Glasgow City Council for the cafe to be opened at 58 Gibson Street in Hillhead.

Located near Glasgow University , the unit was originally a bakery but now lies vacant. It would serve breakfasts and light lunches as well as snacks, home bakes, coffee and teas.

The open plan dining area would be located over two level, with an elevated area towards the rear of the cafe.

The plans also include a takeaway option, with a section of the unit being proposed as an area where customers can collect their takeaway or wait to be seated.

A statement contained within the planning application reads: "The proposed development will see this vacant property recycled into a small bijou café offering a wide range of fare during the hours of 7am-6pm daily.

"Located within the heart of the student area of the west end and adjacent to the university, there is great demand for such outlets within the area, and this proposal will contribute to and complement other facilities within the area."

You can take a look at the full application here.
