Former Glasgow print works could be turned into activity centre for kids

Proposals have been put forward to transform a former print works site into a new play centre.

A planning application was submitted to Glasgow City Council for the local authority's old print works to be turned into the family-friendly hub.

The centre would be located in the listed building at 197 Pollokshaws Road in the city's southside, with the application put forward by Glasgow-based company Spectrum Properties.

The proposed activities on offer at the centre include the following:

  • Activity foam pits set within an obstacle course frame
  • Tubular slide
  • Zip wire and high-level wires
  • Parkour activity area
  • Climbing stairway and climbing towers
  • Freestyle trampoline zone
  • Virtual reality and video games arcade
  • Themed family golf course
  • Baby and toddler play zone

Proposals also include "sympathetic modifications" to the building, with the planning papers describing the works as a "conservation-led approach to the saving of the former Glasgow Printing Works".

Additional land to the back of the building would also be turned into a customer car park if the application is approved.

You can take a look at the full planning application online here.
