Plans to turn old Saltmarket bar into LGBTQ nightclub move forward

A planning application to turn a former Saltmarket pub into an LGBTQ nightclub is moving forward.

The old Lamp Post bar looks set to become Bonjour, “a licensed performance and events space catering specifically to the LGBTQ+ community”.

The original application, submitted in October last year, says the city centre venue will focus on live performance and the arts, opening 7pm until 3am, seven days a week.

The latest application to Glasgow City Council is to extend opening hours for the premises, allowing Bonjour Ltd’s plan to move ahead.

A statement by the company says the new venue would also be used out of hours for local charities and community groups, although it will remain a strictly over 18 space.

The latest planning stage will now go before Glasgow City Council.
