Plans to turn Mansfield Lodge hotel into housing for nursing students

Plans have been proposed to transform a family-run hotel into accommodation for nursing students.

Mansfield Lodge is a three-star hotel consisting of 18 ensuite bedrooms and an annexed apartment.

The property occupied 27 and 28 Woodhouse Road in Mansfield, a ten-minute walk from the centre of town.

The rooms are intended to be let out to predominately university students and nursing students.

Number 27 is proposed to become a "domestic arrangement for 20 rooms comprising 17 ensuite rooms and three rooms sharing a bathroom with four communal kitchens and communal laundry", according to the access statement provided to Mansfield District Council.

Number 28 will be guest accommodation and is proposed to include seven ensuite or private bathroom bedrooms together with a ground floor annexe apartment.

The developers state that there will be "very few alterations" to the property.

The alterations that are to take place are at the rear of 27 Woodhouse Road and are "in keeping with the character of the building".

Number 28 is unaltered, both buildings are in keeping with the character of the surrounding area and the parking is also unaffected, as highlighted in the proposal's heritage statement.

The hotel is still currently operational and is rated "excellent" by 131 Tripadvisor reviewers.

The council will make their decision in the coming weeks.
