Plans to transform Kelvingrove Cafe in Finnieston with major overhaul and renovation

Plans to undertake a major renovation project at a Finnieston cocktail bar have been submitted to Glasgow City Council .

Kelvingrove Cafe have put forward the plans to transform the interior and exterior of the popular cafe and listed building on Argyle Street in the west end .

The new design of the bar, which first opened its doors in 1896, will include an underground private dining area, additional dining in the back of the premises and a new shop front as well as roof lights in the new back section of the bar.

A statement submitted as part of the application, which will go before the council's planning committee, reads: "Proposals seek to reconfigure and improve existing cafe located within existing listed building within a conservation area.

"The reconfiguration will allow improved dining experience for customers and improved kitchen facilities for staff.

"The project also includes proposals to carry out shop front improvements appropriate to the conservation area context."
