Plans to develop an Altrincham office car park into a five-storey block of flats has been labelled 'shocking' by a neighbour.
Ian Whilby, of Brown Street, argued parking and manoeuvring around the already congested roads will be a nightmare for residents.
Applicant Property Alliance Group is seeking permission from town hall bosses to develop the site at Westgate House, located at 44 Hale Road, into ten apartments.
A council report states that the building should be appropriately positioned on the plot so it does not affect the commercial viability of Westgate house.
“The existing car parking numbers should not be reduced - and each new apartment should have one designated parking space,” the report read.

“In addition, the building should not dominate or overshadow the adjacent properties.”
Blueprints for the site include a mix of two and three-bed apartments.
Access to the site will be from Hale Road and exited via Brown Street.
However, not everyone is in favour of the scheme as the council has residents have submitted a number of objection letters.
Mr Whiby wrote: “It would appear that planning policy is now driven by the sole financial objective of extracting as much money out of the developer, rather than the merits of the scheme, such as access or the impact on residents.
“There are so many challenges to this project I could go on for days, but access to the site during development - and once it’s complete - will be a nightmare.
“The issue around parking is also evident."
“This is a shocking proposal that will no doubt be approved," he added.
Others residents agreed and said that during the development they will be severely impacted in terms of the lack of parking - and additional air and noise pollution.
