Plans to convert historic Leeds city centre pub into hotel

Plans to redevelop and expand a historic building in Leeds city centre have been revealed.

Developers want to construct a 38-room aparthotel by redeveloping the Grade II Listed Jubilee Hotel and replacing two adjoining buildings - at 19 and 20 East Parade - with a new six-storey structure.

According to a council report, the hotel would also feature a gym and ground-floor bar but there will be no car park.

Jubilee Hotel, which is a 115-year-old building in The Headrow, was used as a gin palace, pub and lap-dancing club before it was sold for £1.9 million at a commercial auction in October 2017.

Council planning officers have described it as 'an ornate four storey structure', which was built in brick and terracotta with a slate roof.

People are concerned about students dominating this area of Leeds

It is now vacant, but there are offices and a sandwich shop at 19-20 East Parade.

The developers have not submitted at planning application yet, but the preliminary proposals will be examined by Leeds City Council city plans panel at a meeting on May 9.
