Plans to close huge B&M Dingle store

B&M is reportedly set to close one of its most popular Liverpool stores.

The Dingle store, on Park Road, is believed to be closing its doors following news of its Post Office closing soon.

There are plans in place to redevelop the site, with the Post Office set to close in December.

When the store, which was previously a Somerfields and a Co-Op, closes it will mean customers will have to travel as far as London Road for the closest B&M .

The closure will also mean customers visiting to use the Post Office will have to travel to Lark Lane for the closest branch.

B&M is known for its bargain items, selling everything from toiletries and cleaning products to food and furniture.

Budget supermarket Lidl confirmed to the ECHO it has submitted a planning application to open a store at the site.

Stuart Jardine, Lidl GB’s regional head of property, said: “We are delighted to announce that we have submitted a planning application with Liverpool City Council.

"If granted this would mark a multi-million pound investment in the area, and the new Lidl store will employ around 40 people when it opens.

"We would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their support and feedback so far and look forward to receiving the decision in due course."

No official date has been put on the closure yet. Although the Post Office is closing on December 4.

B&M declined to comment when approached by the ECHO.
