Plans to build 'much needed' care home in east Leeds unveiled

Plans to build a "much needed" care home in east Leeds have been unveiled.

Morgan Ashley Care Developments has revealed plans for a 59-bed care home that can cater for a wide range of needs in Holmsley Lane, Woodlesford.

The site which has been earmarked for the development was home to Woodlesford Training Centre, until it was demolished in 2016.

Developers want to build a care facility which is around 12 metres high, with a café and dining room, salon, lounge, laundry room and a buggy store, as well as a car park.

The plans will be discussed by Leeds City Council's south west plans panel on Thursday, November 7, before developers submit a full planning application.

In a report, council planning officers wrote: "The proposal would provide a much needed extra care development and community uses within a sustainable location.

"Officers consider that the scale and emerging appearance of the development are acceptable and the proposed landscaping details are, on balance, acceptable given the resultant development proposed."
