Plans are taking shape for the first ever Kirkcudbright Steampunk Weekend.
Borgue couple Susi and Matt Frances – who use the steampunk names Lady Susannah de Borgue and Captain Max Snoot – are organising the event, which will take place over the weekend of June 17 and 18.
Stallholders will take over the Soaperie Gardens and Kirkcudbright Scout Hall next to the parish church to show off the very best of steampunk artefacts, clothing, jewellery, accessories and so much more.
There will be steampunk exhibits, top hat and mask decorating workshops, readings from steampunk novels as well as promenading in sumptuous steampunk clothing.
A cabaret will take place at the parish church hall on St Mary Street, showcasing seven very different acts including magic, storytelling, comedy and music. Doors open at 7pm on the Saturday and tickets are available from www.kirkcudbrightsteampunk.com.
Live music with the Steaming Foggs will be in The Garret on Saturday afternoon and there will be more live music on the Harbour Square stage on the Sunday.
Another highlight of the weekend will be Victorian Cookery demonstration at the Station House Cookery School on Sunday afternoon.
Shops have the opportunity to enter the steampunk window competition and win a special steampunk cake and businesses can sponsor the event to help ensure the festival goes into the annual Kirkcudbright calendar, bringing people from all over who enjoy the steampunk world.
