Plans submitted to open new restaurant in Kilmarnock town centre

A bid has been launched to open a new restaurant in Kilmarnock town centre.

The new eaterie on Portland Street would be based next to the old Royal Bank of Scotland building.

The premises was recently a charity shop and has also been home to a number of mini-marts.

An English-based company has lodged a licence with East Ayrshire Council.

Plans from Melli Limited state that restaurant and bar meals will be available and the venue also plans to host conferences, weddings, funerals, birthdays, group meetings and brithdays.

There's also the potential for outdoor drinking facilities, music, films and televised sport to be screened at the new venture.

The application states however that children and young people will not be permitted on the property.

The proposed occupancy is 264.

Proposed hours are Sundays to Thursdays from 11am to midnight; Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 1am.
