Plans submitted to extend playground of Cleland Primary School

Plans have been submitted to extend the playground at Cleland Primary School.

The proposals will be using an 897 square metre piece of land adjacent to the primary school existing playground and join the two spaces together to create a larger recreational space for pupils and staff.

Councillors in the area have been asked if they would like to submit any objections to the plans but Murdostoun Labour councillor Louise Roarty believes the proposals will provide some much needed space for pupils after Covid restrictions have eased.

She said: “I’m delighted that the plans to extend the school are now progressing. This extension will ensure that pupils and staff will have additional space to learn and play in addition to being able to better adhere to social distancing guidelines which may be with us for some time into the future.

“Local councillors have been asked if we wish to object to any part of these proposals, but I’m sure all of our local politicians, regardless of party, will get behind what is a common sense plan to invest in one of our schools.

“This Labour administration has always valued investment in our schools and I’m delighted that substantial funding is finding its way to our communities.”
