Plans have submitted for a new takeaway in Craigneuk.
The proposal sent to North Lanarkshire Council’s planning department is for a change of use of a former butchers in Shieldmuir Street.
The property site is located within a small parade of shops in the centre of Craigneuk.
Other retail services on the street include a betting shop, butchers, hairdressers, newsagents and two other takeaways.
Those submitting the proposals say that the construction of the development can be carried out on-site and will have no impact on Shieldmuir Street.
In a statement on the council’s website, planning agents TmC Planning state: “The proposal aims to convert the vacant unit from retail increasing the area’s economic sustainability by creating employment opportunities and encouraging local business within an urban area.
“This development application is of suitable scale and design, which is compatible with the location and will not have a detrimental impact on visual amenities or detrimental impact on the character of the surrounding buildings.
“The proposed change of use to a hot food takeaway will not have a detrimental effect on residential amenity, environmental impacts that may have previously been there under the utilisation of a butchers/retail as a location and setting is compatible with other businesses.
“The application will enhance and create a more economically sustainable area and therefore we look forward to receiving a grant for the proposal.”
So far no objections have been received by the council’s planning department.
