Plans submitted for new ice cream parlour at former Warsop bank

By Jack Thurlow

Plans for a new ice cream bar in Warsop have been submitted by a growing family business.

The shop would replace an abandoned Lloyds bank in Sherwood Street, which closed in November 2018.

BSweet currently operate in Nottingham city centre and also opened a new unit in Southwell this year.

A design and access statement submitted to Mansfield District Council said the shop intends to sell sundaes, cakes, pancakes, waffles, ice cream, cheesecakes, puddings, drinks and savouries.

Officials are keen to encourage new businesses in the area due to high levels of unemployment in recent years.

The company say that their plans for a new parlour will lead to the creation of seven new jobs.

"The site is within the town centre conservation area, and the proposed minor alterations will enhance the fabric of the closed former bank," the company said in a statement.

"It will improve the street scene by reducing the number of already closed units and offering a new family food take away service with an integrated manufacturing and distribution business creating local jobs and accommodation in the region."

The statement concluded by saying that the BSweet ice cream parlour would constitute sustainable development in Warsop.
