Plans submitted for new block of flats in Wishaw town centre

Plans have been submitted for a new block of flats in Wishaw town centre.

The new proposals which have been sent to the council’s planning department would see the demolition of the former Thornlie Parish Church Hall in Caledonian Road.

In its place would be a block of three storey flats with associated parking and access.

In its design statement, for applicant Bobby Fullarton, CD Architects state: “The appearance of the building marries into the existing street elevation.

“Vehicular, pedestrian and cycle access to the new development is available from Caledonian Road. The design accomodates 11 car parking spaces.

“The site is situated within a main residential area within Wishaw and is easily accessible by residents in the surrounding area by means of public transport as well as cars.

“The site is accessible by sustainable transport modes and justifies the 11 spaces including one disabled space.

“All of the works are to be done with consideration of the fact the existing wall is a C grade listed structure.”
