PLANS to invest £20 million in a new five-star hotel in St Andrews have been revealed.
The Scotsman Group has lodged a planning application to convert the former Gibson House Care Home in Argyle Street.
Residents moved out last month when new modern premises opened in St Andrews West.
The Glasgow-based Scotsman Group says this marked the first phase of its ambitious two-part development project.
It plans to retain and enhance the original B-listed Gibson House building.
“This next phase will involve substantial private investment over the coming years and is aimed at breathing new life into the historic property,” a Scotsman Group spokesperson said.
“Upon completion, the site will be transformed into a deluxe destination hotel, complete with landscaped gardens and premium hospitality amenities.”
They added: “The Scotsman Group is proud to be working alongside the William Gibson Trust on this unique and meaningful project.
“Our vision is to honour the legacy of Gibson House while unlocking its potential as a world-class hospitality venue.
“This is not just about preserving a building; it’s about reinvigorating a piece of St Andrews’ heritage for generations to come.”
