Plans submitted for £450,000 renovation of Urmston Bank

Plans for eight apartments in a former bank have been tabled.

The disused RBS building on Crofts Bank Road in Urmston town centre closed its doors back in August 2018.

Now regional developer Adam Deering has his eye on it.

The property investor has submitted proposals to Trafford council, in partnership with DEN Architects, to renovate the old bank. There are plans to pump £450,000 into the development.

The building could become a 'contemporary' residential development if Mr Deering’s plans are approved.

In partnership with DEN Architectural Design Consultants, the plan is for eight apartments with a 5,000 sq ft retail unit below.

Crofts Bank Road’s RBS was one of 31 branches across Greater Manchester and Cheshire to shut in 2018.

The new development would be named Deerbank House and would feature six one and two two-bedroom flats.

David Denton, director and founder of DEN, said: “This is a really exciting project and we’re thrilled to have been appointed. The building is bursting with interesting features, from the grand external brickwork to the original bank vaults.

"It’s set to be a special development and I’ve no doubt units will be snapped up thanks to the history and stunning character.”

Deerbank House is one of several Greater Manchester properties in development by Adam Deering, who is currently building 130 new homes within the region.

The developer is already in the process of building 20 other flats in Urmston and 45 flats and townhouses in Sale.

Mr Denton added: “I’m working on several projects with Adam at the moment and his passion for property and breathing new life into unloved buildings is palpable.

“It’s fantastic to be working alongside a developer with such ambitious plans and I look forward to playing my part in bringing the developments to life.”
