Plans revealed for 'striking' 30-storey residential tower featuring sky bar and co-working space

A developer has revealed plans for a 30-storey tower comprising hundreds of homes in Salford Quays.

Under the proposals from Manchester-based CERT property, a 1980s low-rise office block would be replaced by a "striking" 30-storey tower containing 261 studios, 126 one-and two-bedroomed apartments, and 15 penthouse apartments with views across Salford Quays.

CERT said the community living concept is focussed around residents having their own separate contemporary, design-led, living space while sharing communal facilities and tech to create a "thriving community environment".

If plans are approved, all units will be available to rent with bills included. The development would include a boutique café and lounge, restaurant, fitness and yoga studios, co-working space, gaming and cinema rooms, auditorium and a roof terrace.

It would also house Salford’s first and only 30th floor sky bar – with views across The Quays and MediaCity, and open to both residents and the public.

Howard Lord, managing director of CERT property, said: “We're proposing a new way of living, not just a place to live but an entire lifestyle choice. Our community living concept is designed to recreate the neighbourhood community spirit of old, in a contemporary context.

“Our plans include a vast and varied mix of amenity spaces, designed to help our tenants to meet like-minded people and build commonality through shared experiences and interests.

"We intend to introduce an environment that joins up living, working and socialising all under one roof.”

The project team includes DOMIS Construction, OMI Architects, Layer Studio, Renaissance, Design Fire Consultants, Artal, Enabl, Ridge and SEC Newgate.

Residents and businesses in Salford Quays are invited to have their say on the plans at two public events.

A virtual consultation event will take place on Wednesday November 3.
