Plans revealed for Nottingham restaurant that closed after going into administration

One of Nottingham's biggest restaurant sites that closed last year after calling in the administrators could be given a new lease of life.

Plans have been revealed for a new bar at Belgo, the former mussels, frites and craft beer haunt, in Weekday Cross.

The restaurant, which burst onto the city's food and drink scene in 2016 after a £550,000 refurbishment, failed to reopen after the first lockdown and last July was named as one of 91 sites closing for good by the Casual Dining Group, which also operates Bella Italia, Cafe Rouge and Las Iguanas.

The new bar, called Blind Rabbit, is the latest venture by the operators of Hockley Arts Club, Das Kino, Walrus, Magic Garden and Penny Lane.

All are known for their quirky, individual style and are classed as an experience rather than just eating and drinking.

The restaurant covered two floors and before Belgo it was tapas restaurant La Tasca, which also closed down after financial difficulties.

A spokesman said there isn't a timeline for opening yet but hopes to reveal more details in a few weeks time.
