Plans revealed for new sushi venue in the heart of Tynemouth

Plans have been submitted for a new Sushi bar in the heart of Tynemouth.

The proposed venue would be located inside the Green Ginger Shopping Arcade.

The Arcade is based in a former church on Front Street.

It currently houses a string of shops and bars, as well as a tattoo parlour and a hairdresser.

A planning application submitted to North Tyneside Council shows Jesmond-based businessman Gordon Reed wants permission to open the sushi site - as well as a bar- inside the 30-year-old venue.

The sushi restaurant would be located in a currently empty unit, which formerly housed a gift shop.

If successful, plans indicate three people could be employed at the small site which would be open until midnight at weekends.

The application, for a change of use to the unit, will be decided on a later date.
