Plans have been revealed to build a 4* hotel on the border of Manchester and Salford, with a public consultation launched on Tuesday.
The proposals are for a 186-bed facility on Chapel Street, and are hoped to help meet the city's "crucial demand" for increased accommodation.
It will feature a reception and coffee area on the ground floor, with a mezzanine including bar and restaurant. The upper floors will feature a range of hotel rooms and a gym for guests.
RJR Securities and Central and Urban are to host the digital public consultation set to run until September 14, ahead of submitting plans to the council.
The 15-storey hotel bound by Chapel Street, New Kings Head Yard and Salford Approach, would be operated by Maldron, part of the Dalata Hotel Group.
The site is currently used as a surface car park with around 40 spaces.
Dan White, co-founder at Central and Urban, said: “Despite difficult circumstances, we believe that Salford retains exceptional potential for growth in the longer term, the area around Chapel Street in particular has encountered significant growth and development over recent years.
“We believe that our proposals will help support Salford in the long term as it recovers from the impacts of Covid-19.
“The team we’ve appointed is highly skilled and deliver hotel projects throughout the UK.
“We’re looking forward to hearing feedback from the public on our proposals and to progressing with the planning application.”
Deloitte is acting as planning consultant on the development, with Norr Consultants appointed as scheme architect.
The move comes as central Salford continues to benefit from extensive regeneration, with landmark schemes at Embankment, Greengate West and New Bailey all being brought forward.
A planning application is expected to be submitted in September.
