Plans progressing for 60 new homes in Edwinstowe

Plans are moving forward in Edwinstowe for the development of up to 60 new homes, with some set to provide affordable housing.

The developments, including public space and children's play space, have been put forward by Newark and Sherwood District Council and will include a new access off Mansfield Road.

The site covers 2.39 hectares (Ha) and is located on the western edge of Edwinstowe, adjacent to the existing settlement edge and to the north of the A6075, Mansfield Road.

It has been proposed that 30 per cent of the dwellings are to be affordable housing.

In a design and access statement, the council said: "The development proposals provide approximately 1.68 Ha of residential development, achieving up to 60 dwellings.

"It is proposed that 30% of the dwellings provided are to be affordable housing, in accordance with Newark & Sherwood Local Development Framework Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document, adopted in July 2013."

Newark and Sherwood District Council have stated that the site offers easy access to public transport.

The statement added: "The site is well connected to the surrounding built-up area of Edwinstowe and neighbouring urban areas, as well as benefitting from easy access to roads and public transport.

"A Transport Assessment carried out as part of this planning application has concluded that the proposed development is accessibly located and is within a short distance of key facilities and amenities typically required by residents on a day-to-day basis.

"It provides the opportunity for residents and visitors to travel by sustainable travel modes on a daily and weekly basis as a realistic alternative to single occupancy car use."
