Plans lodged to An Bord Pleanala for 368 bed student accommodation scheme in the Liberties

Plans have been lodged for a massive three block, 368-bed student accommodation building in the Liberties.

The plans for Ardee Point in the Newmarket area have been lodged with An Bord Pleanala as a Strategic Housing Development.

The 12,000 sq metre development will be split into three blocks bounded by St Luke's Avenue, Ardee Street, Newmarket and Brabazon Street.

The blocks will range in height from two to eight storeys and the development will also include additional facilities such as a gym, cinema room and games spaces.

Block A on Newmarket and Ardee Street will be a part-two and part-six storey building that will include 146 single bed spaces and 27 further bed spaces in a mix of four, five and six bedroom clusters.

The block will also include a TV lounge, cinema room, games space, events space, gym and common room.

Block B on Brabazon Row will be a part-six and part-eight storey building that will provide a community and study space as well as 120 single bed spaces, two twin studio units and 17 cluster units of a mix of six to eight bedroom clusters.

Block C on St Luke's Avenue will be a part-six and part-eight storey building that will feature 102 bed spaces and a co-working space.

The proposal includes the conservation of and works to the existing brick tower located towards the north-western corner of the site.

Maintenance works to a protected structure at the corner of Newmarket and Brabazon Row/Brabazon Place, including the restoration of windows at ground floor level and the cleaning of the stone facade and the retention of the facade of the building fronting No. 29 Newmarket will also be included in the works.
