Plans go in for upmarket £2.2m restaurant in Liverpool's Baltic Triangle

Plans have been submitted for a £2.2m new Chinese restaurant in Liverpool's Baltic Triangle.

Lu Ban, which is set to open in Cains Brewery Village towards the end of this year, will specialise in regional Chinese food with authentic recipes and techniques from the Tianjin region.

It is believed the upmarket restaurant will also have a cookery school, bar and private dining services.

And the venue will offer an array of dining options including small plates, tasting menus and Tianjin banquets.

LIVERPOOL: THE SHOPS, BARS AND RESTAURANTS WE'VE LOVED AND LOST IN 2019

Lu Ban Liverpool co-director Mike Mounfield told the ECHO in July that the owners were creating 'an aspirational restaurant like no other in the city'.

Mr Mounfield said: “This won't be your ‘traditional' Chinese restaurant, Lu Ban Liverpool is going to be something very different.

“This is very much about regional specialities from one of the finest regions for cuisine in China.

“The chefs from Tianjin are world renown for the quality of the food and this is what we are replicating here.”

Planning documents submitted with the application suggest Lu Ban will try to cater to a different client base than other restaurants in the Baltic.

The report said: “The Baltic Triangle does not have any businesses of this type currently, there are several Chinese restaurants in the Baltic Triangle , offering more affordable food and takeaways, but Lu Ban differentiates from this by offering a fine dining service, an upmarket bar, private dining experiences and a kitchen cookery school.

“The new development hopes to attract new clientele to the district and assist in the regeneration of The Baltic Triangle. ”

Lu Ban is set to join other food and drink venues like Baltic Market, Peaky Blinders Bar and Punch Tarmey's in Cains Brewery Village.
