Plans for new brunch cafe in Cathcart

Plans have been submitted for a new brunch cafe in Cathcart.

Glasgow City Council planners are currently considering an application to convert a vacant shop at 67 Old Castle Road into a new food venue.

It is also hoped meals and drink would be served at night at the cafe/restaurant in Glasgow's south side.

Proposals, submitted by Mr Kenny Neison, state a: "proposed change of use from a long term vacant shop to a cafe/restaurant.

"Focus will be on weekend breakfast and brunch but with a licence to serve food and drink into the evening."

Meanwhile, in a letter addressed to neighbours, the applicant is hopeful the new cafe can follow the lead of other successful south side brunch spots:

"Our intention would be to open something that focuses on good quality, breakfast, brunch and lunch, but will also do early evening meals, if there is demand.

"As a reference point, we like places like Eat in Clarkston, Cafe Strange Brew in Shawlands and Gusto and Relish and Gnom in Strathbungo."
