PLANS for a new £275,000 splash pad in Fife have been unveiled by the local authority.
Councillors have given the go-ahead for the replacement of an existing splash pad at the Links, in Burntisland, with a modern wet play area and a new plant room.
The local authority said the existing facility had “reached the end of its safe operational life” and that the new area will have “more play value and inclusive features”.
Following a successful petition by the local community, the project will be partly funded by Fife Council, the Fife Environment Trust, the Scottish Government, and a community fundraiser.
The new splash pad is expected to open by spring 2026.
Councillor Ian Cameron, convener of the Kirkcaldy Area Committee, welcomed the plans, saying the council does listen to the local community.

He said: “It’s often said that the Council doesn’t listen – but in this case, we have. The community made its voice heard, and we’re pleased to now share the design for the new splash pad.”
Councillor Linda Erskine, Fife Council spokesperson for Communities, added: “The new design reflects the community’s wish for a fun, inclusive space with maximum play value.
“We’re also exploring a new wheelchair-accessible roundabout elsewhere on the Links, as the current location doesn’t meet the space requirements for modern equipment.”
