Plans for mini retail park opposite Trent Bridge cricket ground given the go-ahead

An ambitious project to transform a former car showroom opposite Trent Bridge cricket ground into a mini retail park has been given the green light.

Planning chiefs approved an application to change the use of a vacant plot of land in Loughborough Road, West Bridgford, that was previously occupied by Sandicliffe Ford and Mercedes.

NottinghamshireLive reported in June that developers wanted to open a sandwich bar, create a veterinary clinic and were interested in securing a "high-quality gym operator" as well as a "local prestige fish restaurant operator".

The application has been given the green light subject to certain conditions being met, including that works planned for the site must start within three years.

The applicant was listed in the planning documents as B & K Thomas (Holdings) Ltd.

A separate project is also planned to build more than 50 luxury retirement apartments at the site.
