Plans for hotel opposite Everton FC's new Bramley Moore stadium approved

Plans for a boutique hotel opposite Everton’s new stadium have cleared their final hurdle.

Liverpool Council’s planning committee approved plans for ZWY Lettings to convert 66 Regent Road into a nine-bedroom boutique hotel earlier this month.

That came after Everton’s plans to build their new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock, which is just across the road on the waterfront, were approved earlier in the year.

Documents posted on the council’s website earlier this week indicate that a legal agreement between the council and the developer has now been signed, clearing the way for development to proceed.

The building, a former warehouse, sits a few metres from the edge of the boundary wall separating Bramley Moore Dock from the road.

A short summary of the plans provided to councillors said: “The proposal is for the conversion of a vacant warehouse into a boutique hotel.

“The proposal also includes increasing the height of the property to provide a further floor of accommodation.

“The site is constrained on all sides but will provide 65.5m2 of usable accommodation on each floor plus a further 65.5m2 in the basement.

“The proposed hotel would offer nine bedrooms with ground floor reception and general storage, together with provision for recycling, refuse and secure cycle storage.

“The basement area will provide food preparation and dining space.”

It is expected that a series of other developments around Bramley Moore Dock will follow, with Everton stating that the new stadium will offer an unprecedented chance to regenerate north Liverpool’s waterfront.
