Plans for a community football pitch at the site Sale Sharks had eyed up for their new stadium have been released.
Plans to build a massive new stadium and sports village on Crossford Bridge playing fields for the premiership side were dropped in June last year after Trafford council withdrew its support following public opposition.
Following that, the council secured the site for the community through a Fields in Trust arrangement – meaning it will be untouchable by developers for at least the next 25 years.

The community can now have their say on the proposals for a 3G pitch at Crossford Bridge.
Now, residents in Sale are being asked their views on the football pitch proposals.
Working with the Crossford Bridge Management Association (CBMA) and grassroots sports clubs at the site, the council is working to improve the facilities there.
The CBMA are keen to look at the idea of installing the full-size fenced off pitch at the top of the site near the M60 motorway on the pitch currently used by Old Altrinchamians FC – the furthest point away from homes.
Trafford council is in discussion with the CBMA and the Football Foundation over the proposals and is keen to ask local residents and business owners what they think.
The consultation will run from October 11 – 31 and residents can take part by clicking here. A further consultation with residents will take place later in the year when the council has more details on the proposals.
Coun Elizabeth Patel, Trafford council’s executive member for culture and leisure, said: “The council has been in close consultation with the CBMA on the proposals and we are now seeking the views of the local residents.
“We want to know exactly what you think and will of course take every view into account. Residents can be assured that they will be consulted with at every step as we continue discussions surrounding these proposals. We want as many resident as possible to provide us with their views.”
The council also wants to protect the site through a Fields in Trust ‘Deed of Dedication’ and will be providing a long-term lease for Crossford Bridge meaning it is protected. You can find out more information on that here.
