Plans for children's 'role play village' in Glasgow east end warehouse

Plans have been unveiled for a children's 'role play village' in the east end of Glasgow.

Proposals submitted to Glasgow City Council this week detail a 'Children's Imaginative Role Play Village, giving children a different type of playing experience with educational role play', with the hope the new venue will be opened up in a warehouse in Calton, beside the Glasgow Pram Centre, on McFarlane Street.

Plans for the warehouse, which is near to the iconic Barrowlands Ballroom, go on to say: "The business concept is to set up a small scale village comprising of small rooms, for example a supermarket, fire station, police station, hairdressers, hospital, theatre, roads, traffic signals, village square etc.

"The premises will provide hot food and drinks for parents and children.

"We also plan on constructing a couple of party rooms for exclusive party hire."

"The village itself will be designed in such a way to replicate, in miniature, some of the iconic buildings/elements from Glasgow."

Meanwhile, it's proposed the cafe element of the venue will have a capacity of 100, while two-hour play sessions will be held each day.

The plans, which you can view on the council's online planning portal HERE, are currently under consideration by Glasgow City Council's planning department.
