Plans for boutique hotel opposite site of new Everton stadium approved

Proposals for a hotel opposite Everton’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock have been approved.

Liverpool Council’s planning committee gave unanimous approval to the proposals for a “boutique hotel” metres from the stadium site this morning.

The plans, from ZWY Lettings, will see the vacant warehouse at 66 Regent Road converted and brought back into use.

It is likely to be one of many developments around the stadium, which will draw tens of thousands of people on match days to an area that currently sees few visitors.

Everton’s proposals for a new stadium cleared their final hurdle at the end of last week after the government confirmed they would not call the plans in for further consideration.

That means Liverpool Council’s earlier decision to approve the stadium design, which was also unanimous, stands.

A report previously submitted to councillors said the entirety of the building would be utilised by the hotel, with its height also being increased.

The report said: “The proposal is for the conversion of a vacant warehouse into a boutique hotel. The proposal also includes increasing the height of the property to provide a further floor of accommodation.

“The site is constrained on all sides but will provide 65.5m2 of usable accommodation on each floor plus a further 65.5m2 in the basement.

“The proposed hotel would offer 9no. bedrooms with ground floor reception and general storage, together with provision for recycling, refuse and secure cycle storage. The basement area will provide food preparation and dining space.”

As well as potential new developments around Bramley-Moore Dock, there will also be improvements to existing facilities.

Nearby Sandhills station is set for a series of improvements funded by Everton as it is expected to be a crucial gateway for fans travelling to the stadium.
