Plans for Alasdair Gray murals to be displayed in Finnieston

Murals by the late Scottish artist and writer Alasdair Gray could soon be appearing in Finnieston.

Joe Mulholland of The Hidden Lane Gallery has submitted plans to display the art at 1061 Argyle Street.

The colourful murals will be part of The Hidden Lane and the Hive area.

The Hive represents a community of over 100 studios hidden behind Argyle Street including artists, designers, craftspeople and music producers.

Former Glasgow School of Art student Alasdair died in December last year aged 85.

During his career, Gray wrote 17 novels, including Poor Things and Old Men in Love, as well as various short stories and poetry.

He was also a talented artist, specialising in mural painting and his work can be found all across the city, including those in Hillhead subway station and the Oran Mor.

Joe Mulholland, who owns the Hive and Hidden Lane Gallery, applied for permission to erect the murals from Glasgow City Council.
