Plans for 300 new flats in three blocks near Liverpool city centre

Hundreds of flats could be built to the north of Liverpool city centre under plans submitted to Liverpool Council.

An application to the planning department could see three apartment blocks constructed at the junction of St Anne Street and Fox Street, close to to where both roads join on to Great Howard Street.

The plans would see 300 apartments built in the blocks, with each building varying between five and eight storeys.

A report submitted by architects Studio RBA on behalf of applicant L Siadankay says the location of the site at a key gateway to the city makes it an attractive site.

The report says: "The target market for this project will be young professionals and families.

"Given the site’s proximity to the city centre, Project Jennifer and its strong transport links we’d suggest that this development is ideally located and perfect for its intended audience."

The application will go before Liverpool Council's planning committee in the future.

The site is located opposite the controversial Fox Street Village, which was slapped with a prohibition order from the council last year due to its unsafe cladding.

It was revealed last week that a waking watch at the development instigated to reduce the risk to residents' lives in the case of fire has cost taxpayers almost £350,000.
