Liverpool’s Adelphi Hotel has got permission to sell alcohol round the clock to guests.
The hotel’s owners submitted plans to the council in August for an extension to sell alcohol 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The proposals requested that the council “amend the plans of the premises, remove all annex 2 conditions and replace with new conditions and make alcohol available to residents and bona fide guests 24 hours a day”.

Now, an update to the council’s licensing register indicates that application has been granted.
The move, which brings the Adelphi into line with many other hotels in the city centre, will only see “bona fide” guests able to buy alcohol. The new licence does not permit 24 hour sales of alcohol to members of the general public.
It significantly increases the period during which alcohol can be served at the hotel.
Previously, the Adelphi could serve guests alcohol from midday until 2am from Monday to Saturday and until midnight on Sunday.
Built in 1914, the Adelphi is an iconic city landmark that was once associated with extensive luxury but has been hit by complaints regularly in recent years.
Owned and managed by Britannia Hotels, which runs a number of other hotels across the country as well as Pontins Holiday Parks, it has 402 rooms as well as its bar, restaurant, multiple public spaces and a number of conference suites.
