Plans for 20 homes in much loved south Liverpool suburb approved

Redeveloped plans have been approved for more housing in one of Liverpool’s most popular areas for homebuyers.

Liverpool Council’s planning committee approved redesigned proposals from Kollko Ltd for a site on the corner of Aigburth Road and Tramway Road.

The site is a few minutes walk from the bottom of Lark Lane, with the L17 postcode area having seen house prices and buyer interest rise substantially in recent years.

Construction at the site was underway before being halted at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

A representative for the developer said that changes in the market, with more people working from home and wanting more indoor and outdoor space, had led them to ask to make a series of changes to the original designs.

Those modifications include increasing the number of apartments from 16 to 20.

The changes also mean the addition of private gardens to some homes and balconies to others, as well as introducing a pitched roof to add space at the top of the building.

A representative told the planning committee: “The pandemic made the applicant review the development and decide that residents should have be

“Of those, 20 flats, two will have private gardens, six will private balconies and a further six will have Juliet balconies.

“The top floor will accommodate eight small apartments with a smaller second floor home work space intended for single people or couples who intend to work from home.”

No opponents spoke against the proposals this morning but some had submitted objections, mainly on the basis of concerns about levels of traffic and parking issues on Tramway Road.

The amended proposals were unanimously approved by the committee.
