A £9 million contract to refurbish Pollok Stables and Sawmill in Glasgow has been awarded.
Morrison Construction has been chosen to carry out the next stage of the renovation project. Previous work has already stabilised the structures, which were on Glasgow City Council’s Buildings at Risk register.
The refurbishment is funded by the UK Government and will see the stables and sawmill in Pollok Country Park transformed from a semi-derelict site into a visitor attraction.
Proposed plan (Image: Supplied) This will complement existing attractions in the park, such as the Burrell Collection, Highland cattle, and Pollok House. The project will start in October.
Morrison Construction's tender was considered the best value out of four submitted.
The selection process was based on a 60% quality and 40% cost weighting.

Councillor Ruairi Kelly, convener for built heritage and development at Glasgow City Council, said: “The works under this new contract will complete the refurbishment of these A-listed historic buildings into 21st century uses, with these complementing the fantastic built heritage attractions – the Burrell Collection and Pollok House – found within Pollok Country Park.
