Planning permission approved for new Carryduff Shopping Centre

The latest planning application has been approved for a new Carryduff Shopping Centre, to be constructed on the site of the old Centre.

Initial plans for the new centre had been revealed back in 2018.

Last week, permission a the planning application was officially granted by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council.

The proposal for the new Centre reads: "Proposed part demolition of existing buildings, refurbishment of former SuperValu building and construction of 2 no. retail units, 1 no. bar/ restaurant unit, 1 no. off licence unit and 21 no. apartments with associated car parking and landscaping."

Commenting on the news, DUP Councillor Nathan Anderson said: "This will be welcome news to locals who all want to see the site developed. I know that locals look forward to see the development progress.

"While this is a major step forward, we will all have to wait to see the what the next steps are for the site."

Green Party Councillor Simon Lee added: "Let's hope we see work recommence soon."
