Planning application to turn former Hamilton pharmacy into a café submitted

Planning permission is being sought to turn a former pharmacy in Hamilton into a cafe.

The former site of the Right Medicine Pharmacy on Brandon Street has been vacant for around five months, but a planning application was made at the end of January to convert the store into a café/restaurant.

The premises was put up for rent in September last year, and the let offered a full repairing and insuring lease for a term to be agreed.

Planners wish to convert the two-storey premises, and the application was validated on Monday (March 7), with neighbourhood consultation and standard consultation starting today (March 9).

The applicant proposes to have a seating area for takeaway collections, salad bar, grill area and seating for eight people as well as an accessible toilet on the ground floor.

On the first floor, there will be a dining area to seat 26 people, a juice bar area and male and female toilets.

Relevant site layouts, floor plans and photographs have been produced to support the planning application.

The application has not received any comments of objection or support as of yet.

The planning determination deadline for the application is May 6.
