Party plane full of maskless influencers who neck booze and vape amid Covid surge

An investigation has been launched after maskless influencers filmed themselves partying on a flight to Cancun drinking expensive booze and vaping.

The shocking clips of the passengers partying on the Sunwing flight from Montreal were shared online as Canada faces a surge of Covid-19 cases.

The influencers were seen vaping, dancing, snapping selfies and flashing expensive booze bottles - without masks and social distancing on December 30.

In one clip, they were seen sharing a bottle of Grey Goose vodka.

A group called 111 Private Club has taken credit for the party via Instagram. One video on their account shows a passenger speaking over the tannoy on a flight with the caption "the beginning".

The group's social media account includes video footage of passengers cheering and screaming.

They all face fines and potential flight bans, and have all been barred from returning to Canada with Sunwing, Le Journal Montréal reports.

Omar Alghabra, Canada's transport minister tweeted saying he had asked for an investigation into the mid-flight party.

He wrote: "'I am aware of the reports of unacceptable behavior on a Sunwing flight. We must take the risks of COVID seriously!"

The statement said Transport Canada has contacted the airline and says passengers who violated the department’s regulations could face fines of up to $5,000 (£2,900) per offence.

The group, which are reportedly meant to return to Canada today, had their flights cancelled by the Toronto-based airline as it investigates the events.

It's not clear where the flight crew was at the time the video was filmed.

Sunwing told the MailOnline the behaviour of the passengers "was unruly and contravened several Canadian aviation regulations as well as public health regulations".

Sunwing said the flight to Cancun triggered an investigation and notified Transport Canada.

Rena Kisfalvi, president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) local which represents Sunwing flight attendants, said: "This is unacceptable behavior from passengers that puts our cabin crew at enormous risk.

"We need the airlines and the federal government to support and protect our members against this kind of mob behavior and make sure it never happens again."

The Mirror has contacted Sunwing and Transport Canada for comment.
