Plane flies over Anfield with message for Liverpool during Chelsea game

A plane flew over Anfield in the early part of Liverpool's game against Chelsea tonight with a message for the newly-crowned champions.

The Reds are due to lift the Premier League trophy after the final whistle of this evening's game.

But they were congratulated from the skies in the first half when a flyover carried a special banner.

It read: "CONGRATS CHAMPIONS YNWA BAHRAIN".

Plenty of fans watching the match on TV commented on the noise of the aircraft. And many took to twitter to have their say on it, including one user who managed to plot the flight path:

Liverpool will finally get their hands on the trophy in a special ceremony later on tonight.

Club legend Kenny Dalglish will be involved as medals are handed out.

And the families of players were granted special permission to be inside Anfield for the game and presentation to make the occasion even more special.

Liverpool's final league match takes place on Sunday afternoon, away to Newcastle United.
