Plane 'crashes' with 11 onboard as rescuers desperately work to save survivors

A plane reportedly carrying 11 passengers has disappeared after its radio signal was lost during a storm in Cameroon on Wednesday, according to CNA.

The aircraft is believed to have crashed at around 2pm, not far from Nanga Eboko, Centre region.

Authorities quickly dispatched search teams both in the air and on the ground.

A list of those who were onboard the plane has been released, some of which are workers for the Cameroon Oil Transportation Company, COTCO, and others who were airline personnel.

The craft had a clear trajectory; Yaounde – Nsimalen – Dompta – Belabo – Yaounde – Nsimalen.

The plane has since been found in the forest in Nanga Eboko.

The Minister for Transport added that emergency services are currently on their way to the location site of the aircraft.

A ministry official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the plane "crashed" and rescuers were "trying to see if it's possible to save anyone".

However, it appears that the crash left no survivors, reported Cameroon24.

The plane was chartered by the private company COTCO which maintains a hydrocarbon pipeline that runs between Cameroon and neighbouring Chad, according to official sources.
