Plane banner flies over Anfield with message to Liverpool team

A plane with the message 'Unity is Strength - Let's Go Reds - YNWA' flew over Anfield during the second-half of Liverpool against Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.

With Liverpool trailing 1-0 and on course for their sixth consecutive Premier League defeat at home, the aircraft was pictured on television sending support to the current domestic champions.

The plane lingered above Anfield shortly after first appearing as several reacted on social media.

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville simply screen-grabbed the banner with several laughing faces.

While one Liverpool supporter said: "Lovely message on the plane flying over Anfield."

Many other Reds were more skeptical about the need for the banner though, with one fan saying: "As if we’re not being embarrassed enough."

Liverpool lifted the Premier League title last season but went into the game with Fulham outside of the European places.

Jurgen Klopp is currently without a host of first team players through injury including Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson.

The Reds are back in action in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, with a 2-0 lead from the first leg against RB Leipzig.
