Plan to turn Ayrshire 'builder's yard' into commercial dog breeding kennels — but work has already started

A plan to turn a 'builder's yard' into commercial dog kennels has been lodged with East Ayrshire Council.

The applicant, Mrs Willamena Brown has already started work on the project.

In documents submitted with the local authority, Mrs Brown's agent, Stephen McQuistin insisted that his client, who lives on Irvine's Livingston Terrace, "wasn't aware planning permission was required" for the development.

The 2,200 sq m site is currently classed as a builder's yard just off Brown Street in Newmilns, sandwiched between an electricity distribution site and a factory.

But Mrs Brown wants to turn the site into a "commercial kennels for the breeding of dogs".

Yelping and isolation kennels from part of the plans, along with holding and 'normal' kennels.

No details have been provided regarding the amount of dogs or puppies the facility could hold.

Ayrshire Roads Alliance had no objections to the plans.

East Ayrshire Council planners will rule on the proposals at a future date.
